| Bismark’s emergency congress held in
1878 to prevent near war over the
Treaty of San Stefano. The reconstruction of the treaty went against
Russia and for Austria-Hungary and Britain. It included reforms such as
Bulgaria being broken up into three parts with Macedonia being returned to
the Turks. Rumania, Serbia, and Montenegro gained independence, but less
land than Russia promised. Greece, due to their support of Britain received
land near Macedonia. Turks kept political control and most of land. Britain
took Cyprus as their part and Austria gained Bosnia-Herzegovina and
commercial deals with Serbia and Montenegro. |
